I caught wind that many people are low key ill advised to take alkaline water to help with acidity and even ulcers.
Let’s delve into the whats and the what nots of drinking alkaline water.
Normal water has a pH of between 6.5 to 8.5. The higher the pH, the higher the alkalinity. While there’s no universal answer to the question of how much alkaline water is too much, The following points are important to take in;
1. Our bodies have a natural ph regulating systems in place. (Includes Kidneys, lungs and liver)
In case of failure of any of these organs, you may develop Alkalosis, commonly caused by metabolic disorders. Under these circumstances, your physician may prescribe consumption of alkaline water. You do not need alkaline water if you have a functional kidney, liver and lungs.
2. If you already self prescribed alkaline, these may be your signs to stop;-
constant runny nose and flue like symptoms, softer darker stool,Fatigue and headaches, More wind and Tingling face and fingers.
3. If you have to introduce alkaline water, Drink small amounts at first, to allow the body adjust to the increased pH.
4. When should you not drink Alkaline water?
a) 30 mins before, during or 2 hours after meals.Your stomach needs acidic medium to properly digest food.Indigestion or bloating may be an indication of nutralised stomach acids.
